Elan Valley

The autumnal light was direct but not harsh, I waited until a small gap in the clouds appeared, saturating the colours of the floodplain below. The towering sides of the glaciated valley show their immense stature through their dominating shadows being cast accross the valley floor. The winding meander acts as a great lead in line through the photograph leading the eye towards the lone Welsh farmhouse.

I zoomed in as the sky was a expanse of uninteresting high clouds, instead drawing on the tones, textures and shadows that a powerful glacier had once formed, emphasized by the low angled sunlight from the west.
