Nugget Point

Nugget Point is a remote lighthouse on the east coast of New Zealand. It is renowned for its raging seas and terrible weather. I experienced both during the afternoon I was there. I climbed a ridge up to this point and looked down on the lighthouse and the Pacific. This was taken on a grey day with shower clouds surrounding me. I took this shot at sunset. There were no striking colours but certainly an atmosphere. I had problems getting a photograph as the on-shore winds were particularly strong, blowing over my tripod numerous times and causing the sea spray to collect on my lens. Eventually I took this photograph with a faster shutter speed of 3 seconds plus my body as a human shield to keep the camera steady.
